Is Wall Mounted Thermostat Compatible With Non-Ducted Atwood Air Command Rooftop Air Conditioner

Question:

Can I use a wall thermostat instead of the thermostat that comes with this unit. I want to install an Atwood 15025 non duct A/C on my Keystone Cougar 337FLS in the living room. Kitchen has ducted 15,000 BTU A/C and bedroom 13,500 BTU non duct A/C. I live in Phoenix, AZ two a/cs wont keep up with temps above 100 and there is only one duct in living room. I do have a roof vent in the living room where I plan to install third A/C running a separate electrical circuit with a 20 amp circuit breaker and receptacle on back of RV. If you cant use a wall thermostat on this unit how accurate is the thermostat on plenum. My experience with plenum thermostats there is too much of a differential even digital ones can be up to 5 degrees off and on.

The Digital Wall-Mounted Thermostat # AT15029 is not compatible with the non-ducted Atwood Air Command Rooftop RV Air Conditioner # AT15025-21; this unit does require the use of its included flip-down thermostat.

As for the accuracy of the thermostat on the plenum there may be some slight variance depending on a lot of factors including the other units in your Keystone but the thermostat will read the temperature where it is situated. Is it possible the reading may be off a degree or two on occasion but keeping the plenum filters clean and reducing the amount of heat in your RV with awnings and shade should allow it to maintain a more even temperature and accurate reading.
