Comparing EcoHitch and Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch for 2016 VW Golf R

Hi, I’m looking at buying a hitch for my 2016 Volkswagen golf R. I’m trying to compare between the draw tite and eco-hitch. The draw tite is class one in the eco hitch is class III. My understanding is the higher the class the greater with standing and capacity for use. Can you help explain the difference between these two hitches then?

The biggest difference between the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch # 306-X7332 that fits your 2016 VW Golf R and the the Draw-Tite # 24975 is that the EcoHitch has a 2" receiver which allows it to use many more accessories than the 1-1/4" receiver on the Draw-Tite; due to that I highly recommend the EcoHitch # 306-X7332 for your '16 VW Golf R.

In terms of Class rating, the EcoHitch does not technically have one while the Draw-Tite is a Class I, and apart from that and the receiver size another difference between the two hitches is that the EcoHitch is hidden and made from an alloy of recycled materials.

They do have the same capacities for towing - 2,000 lbs towing. The EcoHithch has a higher tongue weight capacity at 300 lbs - 200 lbs for the Draw-Tite. So, if you have a bike rack the combined weight of the rack and bikes needs to be 300 lbs or less with the EcoHitch # 306-X7332.
