How Do You Know If You Need Sway Control on a Trailer

Question:

I have moved up from a Tundra to a 2017 F350 pulling a 28, 6000# Travel Trailer. I kept my Equal-i-zer WD hitch, but dont get much squat now with the F350. I despise the 3inch Reciever and sleeves so I was thinking about the 3inch Weigh Safe. Will I have any sway issues without the WD hitch?

Unfortunately, there really isn't any way to predict whether or not you are going to experience trailer sway. This is all going to depend on how the trailer is loaded and it's position in relation to the tow vehicle. It really doesn't have much to do with the tow vehicle at all.

I might also add that a weight distribution system is not required so you can always use the Weigh Safe 2-Ball Mount part # WS10-3 though it does not have an anti-sway control features. If you do begin to experience trailer sway then it would be a good idea to use your Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System. In order to do this you are going to need to use a 2-1/2" shank like part # EQ90-02-4900 with a 2-1/2" to 3" adapter like part # C45408. Unfortunately, an adapter sleeve will be your only option to use your weight distribution system.
