Question:
Hi, I was involved in an accident last week when a car ran into the back of my trailer while we were stopped at a stop light. The force of the impact sheared the tongue off my 2016 Aluma UT12 trailer, as seen in the attached photo. I am curious about the integrity of the hitch itself. Are there any guidelines about impact damage and the need to replace following an impact? There is no visible damage but want to make sure I do not lose a trailer while traveling down the interstate. Thanks.

Because there is really no way to test the hitch, it is recommended to replace the hitch, the ball mount, and any other components involved in an accident. No company will want to take the liability of no visible damage, so I recommend replacing all of the components including the hitch, ball mount, hitch ball, and even hitch pins.
I also recommend testing your wiring for proper function using a circuit tester like # PTW2993.
