Replacement Axles and Leaf Springs for Tandem Axle Trailer

Question:

I have a tandem axle trailer with a GVWR 7700#. I need to replace the axles and springs. The axles I have on my trailer are 3500# axles and springs. I would like to replace the spring with those used on 5000# axles. The tractor I haul maxes out the capacity of the 1750# springs and would benefit by having heaver springs. Tractor weighs about 5300#. Trailer weighs about 2000#. I will list the parts I have purchased from yall Item # LC281285, Never Fail Tandem Axle Suspension Upgrade Hardware Kit Item # 84556UC3, Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly for 3,500-lb Axles These are the items I plan to purchase to complete my project. Will this work for me? Item # 7359765, Dexter Trailer Axle Beam with E-Z Lube Spindles - 95inch Long - 3,500 lbs Item # SP-218275, 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 5,000-lb Trailer Axles - 25-1/4inch Long Thanks

It is possible the Dexter Trailer Axle Beam with E-Z Lube Spindles # 7359765 will work for you, so long as your current axles are rated for 3,500 lbs, have a hub-face to hub-face length of 95" and spring center to spring center length of 80"; you can use the diagram I have added to know where you need to measure.

Additionally, because this has EZ Lube spindles you will need to add Grease Caps # RG04-040 to make your Hub and Drum Assemblies # 84556UC3 compatible.

As for your leaf springs you can use the 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 5,000-lb Trailer Axles # SP-218275 so long as the length from center of spring eye to center of spring eye is 25-1/4"; just keep in mind the ride might be a bit stiffer with the slightly over-capacity springs. There are also 4-leaf 3,500 lb rated springs available, # SP-212275, which measure 25-1/8" from center of spring eye to center of spring eye.

Having said that, so long as your measurements line up you can use both the axle and leaf spring you mentioned and will be good to go.
