Can Rightline Gear Cargo Hatch Saddlebag RL100B90 Install on Vehicle with Roofline Spoiler

Question:

Will this go around the spoiler at the top of the hatch? Also when stopping for the night what would stop somebody from just unstrapping it and taking it? Should we take it in for the night with us?

The roofline spoiler on your 2016 Nissan Rogue (thank you for the photo!) is not intended to bear any weight so if you wish to attach the Rightline Gear Cargo Hatch Saddlebag # RL100B90 you will need to connect the straps to your raised roof side rails and then around the sides of the spoiler to avoid placing weight/stress on it. You also need to make sure you have at least 40-inches of space between the two tail lights so that they are not blocked.

This bag has no security provisions but you could add a cable lock like # CAB-10 to provide a visual deterrent to discourage thieves.

I would like to mention another cargo option just in case it would work better for you. If you installed a hitch such as bolt-on 2-inch model # e98846 you could transport MUCH more cargo weight than what the Rogue's roof rails can handle. This hitch has a rating of 525-lbs of tongue weight (TW). TW is down-force on the hitch from an item such as cargo carrier # C18153. The carrier can be locked to the hitch using item # 63232.

This means that if you use this carrier installed in this hitch you could load over 400-lbs of cargo. The Rightline bag has a maximum capacity of 100-lbs. You can still use a protective cargo bag like # 988501 on the hitch carrier.

The hitch also enables use of hitch bikes racks like the Yakima FullSwing # Y02465 and other hitch-mount accessories such as a hitch cover like # CR-690.
