Brake Controller on 2000 Winnebago Builton Ford F-53 Chassis

Question:

WE have a 2000 Winnebego on a F-53 chassis with a Triton V-10. We plugged in the Hopkins simple plug #47715 and controller #47294. When it is plugged in the passenger driving light comes on but the controller does not. Any idea what is going on and how to fix it?

Expert Reply:

Did your 2000 Winnebago have a 7-way already? If not, you are going to need Wiring Harness, 7-Way # 118243 for the Hopkins InSIGHT # HM47297 to work. Since you are using Brake Wiring Adapter # HM47715 there should be no reason why the InSIGHT is not working. Be sure that the power wire is correct by using a circuit tester such as # 40376 to ensure the black wire is giving your brake controller power. If not, it will need to be run via a 20-amp circuit breaker to the positive fuse of your Winnebago's battery.
