Why are Cable Ties Needed for a Trailer Hitch on a 2018 Volkswagen Golf
Hi there, Just ordered this yesterday, and I might try to install it myself. The only part that worries me a bit is the cable ties for the blind spot sensor on passenger side only... Why do we need cable ties if it comes bolted before installing the hitch? Why on the passenger side only? What’s different from the driver side? Thanks a lot!

The Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 24975 which is a fit for your 2018 Volkswagen Golf is going to use two of the bolt holes that the passengers side blind spot sensor was previously using. Since these holes cannot be used to reinstall the passengers blind spot sensor because of the hitch, there are cables ties provided that will allow you to secure the blind spot sensor without using all three factory mounting holes. The blind spot sensors do not come bolted to the hitch but on your vehicle. The drivers side blind spot sensor re-attaches onto on the trailer hitch and bumper beam so the cable ties are not needed.
