Can Smaller Wheels be Used on Boat Trailer if Wheel Bolt Pattern is the Same?

Question:

need to get boat in garage but with the 205/75r14 on trailer it wont fit thru the door. Can i use 12 in wheels/tire so i can get it inside if the hole pattern is the same.

Yes, you can use smaller wheels as long as they have the same bolt pattern, but you do need to ensure the tires have a load capacity which is high enough for your boat and trailer.

The most common bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2" so that is likely what yours is, though you want to verify this by measuring; if you are unsure of how to do this I've added a help article which details exactly how you can find out.

The 12" wheel and tire combination we carry with the largest capacity is the Kenda Karrier S-Trail # AM31215 which has a load range of E with a maximum capacity of 1,520 lbs at 80 psi, which you'll want to keep in mind. This 145/80R12 tire on it that is 5" smaller in diameter and is 2.4" narrower which may help you get your trailer in garage.
