Long Ball Mount Compatible with Towing with Tailgate Down

I have been towing with my tailgaite down for years with this hitch that I got from you guys: Hidden Hitch Ball Mount - 3/4inch Rise, 2inch - 15-3/4inch Long - 6,000 lbs Item # 80232 I recently got a new trailer and am right at the limits of this hitch, which is probably fine, but was wondering if you knew of any options that would increase the capacities and keep me 16 from pin center to ball center? I really cant go any shorter. They only think I have found is some equalizer hitches that have that length and 10,000/1000 to 15,000/1500 ratings, which is plenty, but I dont need the equalizer aspect and dont want that stuff hanging down so low on the dirt roads I go down. If I got the solid shank and the ball mount for an equalizer hitch, is it still the same rating when not running the equalizer bars? Thanks for any help you can provide, I love your site and info!!

The Hidden Hitch Ball Mount 15-3/4" Long # 80232 is rated for 6,000 lbs. This is the longest shank we have available and at the highest capacity. To have a weight distribution shank for your application is a great option. I recommend the Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank - 18" Long # EQ90-02-4500 along with hitch head # 58333 which will be rated for handling the same tongue weight whether the bars were installed or not. You will also need a compatible hitch ball like # A-90 for a 2 inch diameter or # 19286 for a 2-5/16 inch diameter hitch ball with the 1-1/4 inch diameter shank. This combination will allow you to tow up to 10,000 lbs or whatever the capacity of your truck or trailer hitch restricts you to.
