Enlarging Frame Holes To Install Draw-Tite Class I Part 24801 on 2011 Altima Coupe

Question:

Before I drill I need to make sure I understand this correctly. Am I correct that there is no trunk access in the 2011 Altima Coupe as shown in the video. Instead I should enlarge a whole in the frame in order to use the bolt lead to move a spacer and bolt into the frame and down a pre-existing opening. I can then bolt the hitch to the underside of the frame. Im very aprehensive to drill into an unknown space. Yet, Nissan service department refused to attach this hitch. Any advice would help. Thank you.

The video you refer to was placed on that product page in error. It refers to a different part number installed on the sedan, not the coupe.

The install would not involve drilling down through the trunk.

The hole closest to the front of the vehicle would need to be enlarged enough so that the block washer and carriage bolt can be fished into the frame member. This hole can be enlarged by drilling a small adjacent hole on either side of the existing hole and using a cold chisel to remove the metal in between. A cold chisel can be placed on one edge of the hole, and hit with a hammer to enlarge the hole. Or, a Dremel tool or a metal file can be used.

Whichever method is used, enlarging the hole is not harmful to the vehicle.

I have linked you to a video showing how to use the fish wire to feed the bolt through the opening. Click on the provided link to view the video.
