High Capacity Trailer Wiring Converter for Trailers with A Lot of Lights

Updated 05/03/2018 | Published 05/02/2018

Question:

I ordered two of these thinking that they were powered. Application 1: 2004.5 Dodge RAM 2500 chassis cab. I thought this thing had separate turn and brake circuits like the pickups. It does not, has combined brake turn. I still need a powered adapter to provide more current for my CM flatbed 6 turn stop LEDS, 9 clearance LEDs and two tag lights and 24 ft gooseneck flatbed 4 turn stop LEDs, 9 clearance LEDs and two tag lights. Application 2: 2009 Chrysler TandC. Separate turn and brake, need more current output.

The highest rated converter box in terms of amperage capacity is # C55504. It is rated for 3 amps for brake and turn signal lights per side and 16 amps for running/tail lights. Since you are using LED lights though the power draw from those lights won't come close to the capacity of this system. This is a powered converter and it can be used on vehicles that have combined stop and turn signal lights.

All you would do is ground the red wire with the white wire and use the green wire on the combined brake and right turn signal wire on the truck while the yellow will connect to the combined brake and left turn signal wire. Brown is still for running/tail lights. The black wire is the power wire and wiring kit # 118151 is recommended to attach that power wire to the vehicle battery.

For the 2009 Chrysler Town and Country I recommend harness # 118552. It is a powered unit and is rated for 4.2 amps per side for brake and turn signals and 7.5 amps for running/tail lights.
