Replacement Landing Gear Set for a 2004 Nu-Wa Hitchhiker Fifth Wheel Trailer

I have a 2004 hitchhiker that I would like to change the landing gear on before it quits. I have looked at replacing them with item RP500708. It looks like they come ready to install if there is 17 1/2 between brackets.Current setup has 5 1/4 between brackets. There is room to weld new brackets to the frame but it would take some fab work. The frame has about an 1 1/2 tube welded to the frame and the brackets are welded to that. Could I just weld the stop pieces on the new tube at the correct spacing to fit the original brackets? Thanks

There are options available for you but I cannot recommend you attach new weld stops to the Reese Electric 5th Wheel Landing Gear Set part # RP500708. The correct way for you to install these on your trailer would be to cut off the brackets you have now and weld the new ones on in the correct position. The 5-1/4" spacing you have now is unheard of and we would not have anything that is a direct fit. The brackets would need to be spaced apart much further than this to properly handle the weight of the trailer.
