Brake Controller Harness Compatability for 2001 Chevy and 2015 GMC
Question:
Can you tell me if the factory trailer plug on a 2001 Chevrolet truck is the same as a 2015 GMC, or do I need an adaptor?

Expert Reply:
The wiring adapters for the brake controllers on the two trucks are going to be different. For example, if you had the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 brake controller, a 2001 Chevy Silverado would use adapter # 3025-P while a 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 would use adapter # 3016.
I've added links to video reviews of both adapters for you to take a look at.
