How to Carry 4 Bikes with a 2018 Honda HR-V

Hi, I have a 2018 HOnda HRV. My mechanic is going to install trailer hitch and Im looking to buy a 4 bike rack. He said the hitch is 1.1/4. can you please recommend some products? thank you

Since the 2 trailer hitches that we have available for your 2018 Honda HR-V are Class I rated, part # 24932 and part # C11416, you won't be able to carry more than 2 bikes with a hitch mounted bike rack. All Class I trailer hitches are smaller so the extra weight from bikes sitting further away from the vehicle will cause damage to your bike rack, trailer hitch, and possibly your HR-V and bikes.

We have 4-bike bike racks that are compatible with your Class I trailer hitch, like the Thule Apex # TH9025XT, but you will only be able to load 2 bikes onto it safely. Instead I recommend using a 2-bike rack like the Kuat Beta # B202-114 in addition to some roof rack bike racks. The Beta is a great, cost-effective bike rack that comes fully assembled right out of the box and has arms that sit closer together which reduce the need for an adapter bar like part # UB01.

You will need a roof rack to carry your bikes on your roof. I recommend going with an Inno Aero roof rack because they have great products at a great price-point. For a naked roof you need the 51" Crossbars # INXB130-2, Through Feet # INXS250, and Fit Kit # INK878. If you have rails on top of your roof then you need the 51" bars # INXB130-2, the Through Feet # INXS450, and the Fit Kit # INTR159

Either one will allow you to use the Swagman # S64720 to grip your bikes by the frame and secure them to your HR-V.
