Availability of Hub/Drum that Fits 8 inch Wheel for Adding Brakes to Axle

Question:

Hi experts - Im looking to build a trailer that uses 8inch wheels which will have a total weight capacity of about 5,500 lbs spread across 3 axles. Weird, I know. Do you have brake assemblies that will work with 8inch wheels such as the AM3H310 or similar? Thanks for your help!

Expert Reply:

We have the hub and drum part # AKHD-545-2-EZ-2K that is compatible with 8 inch trailer wheels like the Kenda 215/60-8 Bias Trailer Tire with 8" White Wheel # AM3H310 that you referenced and has the correct bolt pattern of 5 on 4-1/2 inch like this wheel needs as well. This hub is the correct fit for 2,000 lb axles which are pretty common.

Then for brake assemblies you'd want the part # AKEBRK-2 which is designed for the hub I mentioned as well.
