Rola Trailer Hitch Mount Cargo Carrier Assembly and Anti-Rattle/Hitch Lock Recommendations

It looks like the Rola #59507 does have a solid shank, but does that really just attached to the center section with two carrier bolts?!? That doesnt seem to support the 300lb maximum do you need to deduct weight of basket?. And whats your recommendation for a single, anti-rattle hitch lock? Thanks!

There are actually 4 bolts that hold each side of the carrier together and 4 bolts that attach the bottom support bracket. But, yes, there are 2 bolts that hold the carrier assembly to the shank. The bolts used are 3/8 inch diameter, 3 inch long carriage bolts so they are by no means too small for the 300 pound capacity of the carrier.

The weight of the carrier does not subtract from its capacity, but does count against the tongue weight capacity of the trailer hitch on the vehicle.

There is not a locking anti-rattle device that will be compatible with the carrier and a 1-1/4 inch receiver. I recommend going with No-Rattle Trailer Hitch Wedge, # 93347, as an anti-rattle device and then using Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock, # 5200. I have included video reviews of the carrier, anti-rattle device, and the lock for you.
