For your new 2017 Ford F-250 Shortbed, I recommend either of Reese's custom fit mounting kits, part # RP50074-58 for the inboard version, and part # RP56017-53 for the outboard version.

For both kits, you'll end up drilling into the bed of the truck only, however both kits use existing points in the frame to install.

The outboard version, part # RP56017-53 is easier to install, as its entire mounting process takes place outside the frame, making installation a breeze because of more room to work. This kit is wider than the inboard version by about five inches, giving a little more room.

I've included a video review of both parts so you can get a better idea of their parts and materials.
