Recommended B&W Companion 5th Wheel Hitch Position for 2015 Chevy 2500 HD Short Bed

Can you tell me the best position of the 9 for the companion hitch on a 2015 Chevy 2500 Shortbed diesel. I have a short 5th wheel 27 and weighs around 7k lbs. I am 1st time fifth wheeler.

For your 6-1/2 foot bed on your 2015 Chevy 2500, the B&W Companion hitch you will want is the Companion Slider # BWRVK3400. The pivot arms should be as far to the back as possible for greatest clearance and the height will be dependent on the actual level towing king pin height of your trailer. I've attached the installation details to assist.

For a short bed, a slider is always recommended because it will allow you the additional clearance (12 inches in this case) to allow easier turning.

If you already have the fixed mount hitch, then I recommend getting the Replacement Slider Base for B&W Companion Slider 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - 20,000 lbs # BWRVB3405 and using your current head.

You may also want to consider the Bargman 5th Wheel/Gooseneck 90-Degree Wiring Harness w/ 7-Pole Plug # 50-97-410. This will plug into your factory wiring and give you a 2nd 7-way trailer connection in the bed of your truck for easy access and connection.
