Parts Needed to Equip 2017 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500 with 7-Way and Trailer Brake Controller

Question:

What is needed to install a hitch, 7pin trailer connector and brake controller?

Expert Reply:

We have 2-inch Class III trailer hitches for your 2017 Sprinter 2500 that you can view on the linked page. Their fits depend on the van wheelbase and bumper style. You can use the drop-down Select Vehicle Style menu tool to choose your specific configuration. Please note that Sprinter frames that measure 30-3/8-inches between the outsides of the frame rails have no confirmed hitch options.

Towing capacities vary slightly among the hitches available; for a van without the factory step bumper I suggest the Draw-Tite # 75549 since it offers a higher 600-lb tongue weight rating.

7-way and brake controller installation will be a single process. You'll need a 4-pole harness to start with; if you do not have one already use part # 118649. Then all you need to install a 7-way and brake controller is our install kit # ETBC7. This includes the 7-way socket, wiring and all other parts needed to complete 7-way installation and brake controller installation.

Then for a brake controller I suggest the reliable and user-friendly Prodigy P3 # 90195. This controller will slow your trailer right along with the Sprinter's deceleration and it features storable settings and an easy-to-read display that makes for simple operation. Two helpful install articles are included for you as well.
