Weight Distribution Recommendation that Comes with a Shank with A Lot of Drop

Here is my situation: I have an eaz lift elite with 800 lb spring bars and recently bought a new truck which is taller than my previous truck. I have 2 problems 1 I think I to drop the hitch about 1inch more than my current hitch will allow and 2 I need heavier spring bars I new about this but my previous truck dealt with it better. I can either buy a drop shank and spring bars for my current hitch or go with a new hitch. This Blue Ox seems be the only one to solve both my issues. I was wondering why the drop distance is so different from the rise distance. And are there any other suggestions you would have to solve my problems?

You are right; it would be a lot easier to replace the whole weight distribution system rather than replace several parts on an existing system. On the Blue Ox SwayPro # BXW1506 the reason the rise and drop measurements seem so far off from each other has to do with how it is measured.

Rise or drop is measured from the top of the receiver opening to the top of the platform the ball sits on in the head. The design of the SwayPro head makes that platform fairly high which creates a higher rise measurement when compared to the drop measurement. But on this system you are still getting a maximum 7 inch drop which is more than most other systems that come with a shank. If the 7 inches isn't even let me know.

Another option would be to use a system that does not come with a shank, such as Reese Strait-Line system # RP66130, and then choose a shank based on the amount of drop needed. The Strait-Line system comes with dual-cam sway control which actually prevents sway from starting so that is pretty neat. For a compatible ball you can use # 63840.

I have also included a link below to the shanks we have that fit 2 inch hitches. If you can tell me how much drop you need total I can make some specific recommendations.
