Troubleshooting No 12V Power at Factory-Installed 7-Way on 2017 Toyota Sequoia

Question:

All of the other signals are good, but there is no 12V power at the 7-way. I checked all of the fuses marked TOW or anything like it under hood, and they are all good. I even checked the fuses labeled Aux and they were good as well. There were no TOW related fuses found on the under dash panel, and I dont where else one might be hiding. Owners Manual has nothing related to this topic. Factory installed on new Sequoia. Is there something I am missing or some button or mode that has to be active other than keys on??

Since your 7-way trailer connector on your 2017 Toyota Sequoia was factory-installed, all needed fuses, circuit breakers or wiring connections should have been completed either at the factory or at least by the dealership. The 12V auxiliary power feed on the 7-way will be fuse- or breaker-protected (usually a 40-amp). You might just double-check the fuses since the label or marking on the 12V feed could say different things. You are correct that the ignition key usually controls the 12V power circuit on most vehicles and this would need to be in the 'on' or 'accessory' position.

You can check with the dealership for a solution if you like but if you prefer you can simply bypass the factory 12V wiring and install your own using 10-gauge wire # 10-1-1, 40-amp circuit breaker # PK54540 and ring terminals # 44-5310A. Run the wire from the battery + to the breaker, and from the breaker to the 7-way's 12V pin, which is at the 1-o-clock position.
