Troubleshooting Weigh Safe -2 Ball Mount for 2-1/2 Inch Hitch with Increase Movement At Hitch Ball

Question:

I have used this on my GMC 3500 for about 5 months pulling 10,000 to 12,000 lb. trailer. I have noticed that the amount of play in the ball mount at the ball has increased. Is this a problem? With its play at the ball and the play at the receiver the ball really moves a lot. Thanks

The Weigh Safe 2-Ball Mount w/ Built-In Scale - 2-1/2" Hitch - 4" Drop, 5" Rise - 14.5K # WS4-25 should not have a lot of play in the ball. Make sure the pin that holds the ball in place is working properly and the hitch ball is the correct size for the trailer and weight you are pulling. You should be using the 2-5/16 inch ball for that 10-12,000 lb trailer.

A little bit of play is normal, but increasing amounts of play is a problem and may require replacement parts.

You may need the Replacement Hitch Ball Retaining Pin for Weigh Safe 2-Ball Mounts # WS04, the hitch ball # WSB-XXL145, or the platform # WS01-5. If the movement has changed the shape of the holes, then the part will absolutely need to be replaced.
