Parts Needed to Install Brake Controller in 2017 Honda Pilot without Trailer Wiring

Question:

All the video I can find assumes a tow package. I dont have one. How do I connect trailer wiring without a package? Especially, is there a power supply wire available in the rear to power the converter and possibly a 7 pin plug, or do I have to run a wire to a fuse block forward? I want to tow a trailer with electric brakes for a short distance, possibly with a wireless brake controller, but I need the 12v supply.

You will need to start with a 4-way (if you do not have one). For that you would want the # 118760 which is a custom fit for your 2017 Honda Pilot.

From there you would need to convert the 4-way to a 7-way so that you can install the brake controller. For that you will want the Brake Controller Install Kit and 7-Way Adapter part # ETBC7. I attached installation instructions and an install video for this product as well.

For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup. Or, if you wanted to go the wireless route the Prodigy part # 90250 would also work but instead of the # ETBC7 you would need the part # 37185 and a length of 10 gauge wire like 10-1-1 (sold by the foot) through a breaker like part # 9510 to the positive post of the battery.
