5th Wheel Mounting Brackets That Work with Airbags on a 2009 Ford F-250

Question:

My truck has existing Firestone Ride Rite Spring Helpers. The air bags are mounted between the outside of the frame and the rear tires, right where the C16448-204 is supposed to mount onto the frame. Will the C16448-204 work for my application?

I do have a way that may allow you to mount a set of 5th wheel base rails on your 2009 Ford F-350 while using your current airbag setup, however the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit for Ford part # C16448-204 will not work as the custom brackets included in this kit attach in the same location as your airbags.

In order to mount a set of base rails on your vehicle while using your current airbags, you will want to use a universal installation kit like the Reese Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches part # RP30035. As long as the airbag brackets are not postion 29-1/4" forward from the end of the rear frame rail and 22" forward from there these will work for you.

In order to install the 5th wheel mounting bracket like part # C16448-204, you will want to use the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs part # F2550 as these airbags are mounted under the frame rail and to the side of the frame where a predrilled hole is located in the 5th wheel mounting bracket for this reason.

I have attached both review and installation of the 5th wheel mounting brackets and the airbag kit for you.
