Available Rhino-Rack Roof Rack Wind Fairing to Reduce Roof Rack Noise

I purchases the silver Rhino Rack Aero Bar Roof Rack for my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee a couple weeks back. Ive installed they and they look great. However, when I go above 40 MPH I get a load whistling. It stops when I open the sunroof with the bug screen. Im assuming that deflects the wind enough to stop the whistling. I believe Ive seen a deflector on one of the videos that could be added. I cant find it in the site. Could you provide any information on what to do about the whistling and if the deflector would do it?

Thank you for your purchase of the Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero roof rack that fits your 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. This rack's crossbars, part # RRVA126S-2, have an aerodynamic shape to better cut through the wind than standard round or square bars and in most instances adding a wind fairing would not improve noise performance. With aero type bars like these adding a fairing would actually be likely to increase noise.

In most cases rack makers do not recommend opening a sunroof with a rack installed, for both noise and clearance concerns. In your case the particular manner that air flows over the GC's roof is the reason you hear some noise. Opening the sunroof would change that airflow and in your case, curiously too, reduce the audible noise level. This is an unusual circumstance!

Rhino-Rack does offer a 44-inch fairing # RRRF3 that could be used with these 49-inch bars but the results of installing this are hard to predict since fairings are generally not used with aero bar racks.
