Does Thule Hitching Post Pro Fit on a 2017 Honda CR-V

Good morning, We have a 2017 Honda CRV and are looking for a bike hitch that will hold 4 bikes 2 adults and 2 children. Would the Thule HItching Post Pro be a good choice for our car and needs? And what other products would we need to purchase if we do not already have a hitch installed? Finally, can installation be done by any car mechanic? Thanks so much for the help.

The Thule Hitching Post Pro # TH934XTR is a great bike rack for your 2017 Honda CR-V. We've actually test fit the rack on a CR-V just like yours. I've linked the video for you. The Hitching Post Pro will carry 4 bikes up to 35 pounds each. It tilts away from the vehicle and, as you can see in the video, provides enough clearance to open the rear hatch of the CR-V. A locking hitch pin can be added to the rack using # THSTL2.

Since you're going to be carrying children's bikes on the rack you'll likely need adapter bars. The Kuat Ubar # UB01 creates the horizontal cross tube where the bike hangs on the rack. A lot of times children's bikes do not have enough space in the frame from the arms of the rack fit and carry the bike level. An adapter bar will solve this issue. And adapter bar is also great for women's bikes since they don't have the straight cross tube like a traditional men's bike does.

The trailer hitch receiver I recommend is the Draw-Tite Max-Frame # 76128. This is a Class III, 2 inch hitch designed for your CR-V. The Class III hitch gives you more options on accessories and a higher weight capacity than a smaller hitch will.

I've linked the installation details and a video of the hitch being installed. It's a fairly straightforward install that doesn't require any drilling. Any trusted mechanic should be able to perform the install without an issue.
