Recommended Trailer Wiring Harness For 2015 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter

I recently installed Curt 2inch trailer hitch on 15 Mercedes Sprinter van. However I didnt install the 4 pin flat connector for power. Im only going to use the hitch for a cargo carrier box. My question is how can I power just the taillights for the cargo box without installing a 4 pin connector? Is there a way I can wire just the cargo box tail lights to a small external battery that I can install inside the cargo box? Please let me know my options and any products available from etrailer? Thank you!

If you used a separate battery for the lights on the cargo box you would lose the ability to have turn signals on the box. You would only be able to have the lights constantly on, and would not have brake lights.

I recommend the -One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118649 for your 2015 Sprinter. This harness plugs into the vehicle wiring harness located in the rear cargo area on the driver and passenger side. Some of the trim panels in the cargo area will need to be removed. Then you will need to run a hot lead wire up to the positive battery post with the fuse inline. This will give you a working 4-way trailer connector at the rear of your Sprinter.

When working with electrical connectors I recommend using dielectric grease like part # 11755. This keeps dirt and moisture out of the electrical connections and helps prevent corrosion.
