Recommended Tires For Boat Trailer Traveling At Highway Speeds

Question:

I need to replace my boat trailer tires. The tires currently on the trailer are made by Carlisle, size 4.50/12. They are bias tires but I would like to replace them with a radial since most of my trailering is at high highway speeds. Can you suggest a suitable replacement? thank you

For a radial tire, I recommend the Kenda Karrier S-Trail ST145/R12 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range E # AM10140 for your trailer. These will have a very nice tread and automotive grade sipes. They may not be the best option for you due to the highway speed rating. These tires have a maximum speed rating of 65 mph. In the 12 inch tire size, the radial tires are not the best option for highway speeds.

Since you mentioned the majority of your trailering is at high highway speeds, I recommed the Taskmaster 4.80-12 Bias Trailer Tire - Load Range C # TTWSF48012C with a speed rating of M (up to 81 mph). These tires have a tread depth bar for quick visual indication of tread wear. These will be the best tires for your highway travel.
