Adding a Third Brake Light and Tail Light to a Trailer Towed Behind a Motorcycle

Question:

I have a trailer with a clam shell plastic top to tow behind my spyder motorcycle and I have the trailer lights on both sides of the metal frame that act as the tail/stop/turn lights. I am looking for a flush mount tail/stop light to mount in the center of the clam shell top that will act as a third tail/stop light .

Since your trailer has combined stop, tail, and turn signal lights you will either need to have 2 separate light assemblies and wire them in with the existing lights which would also give you turn signal functions on those center lights or you would have to use a special converter to separate out the turn signal circuits from the brake lights in order to just have brake and running lights on the center light.

I recommend the second method so you will need converter # C56196. On the input side the white wire is the ground wire. Yellow will tap into the combined left turn signal/brake light wire. Green taps into combined right turn signal/brake light wire. On the output side you can cap off the yellow and green wires and run the red wire to a light. The running light wire will bypass the converter.

For a light I recommend # STL79RB. The white wire is the ground. The red wire is for brake lights and will go to the red wire from the output side of the converter. And the black wire will tap into a running light wire on the trailer.
