Is Fascia Trimming Required for Front Mount Hitch Installation on the 2005 Chevy 3500

Question:

It says on the curt PART NUMBER: 31108 that the Front air dam may require modification. How do I know if it will or not. I want something to just bolt right on. Thanks

The directions state that Fascia trimming is optional on 2500 H.D./ 3500 models. This means that when the front mount hitch, item # 31108, is installed the bottom of the receiver tube will contact the air dam under the front bumper of your 2005 Chevrolet 3500 pickup. This contact over time will wear on the air dam, so you may decide to trim it a bit before installation of the hitch. Otherwise the hitch install is a direct bolt on installation with no drilling required.

My recommendation is to do a test fit and see if there is cause for trimming of the air dam. If not you are good to go, if so using a dremel with a cut off wheel installed is the easiest way to trim the fascia. Take your time and you will have a professional looking installation you can be proud of.
