What Adapter Needed to Install Thule Criterium Bike Rack TH598 on 1991 Jeep Cherokee Roof Rack

Question:

I have a Thule 597/598 ski rack and need a mounting kit for a 1991 Jeep cherokee with factory roof rack and crossbars. Do you have a mount that would work?

Expert Reply:

Thule part TH598 is for their roof-mount Criterium frame-mount bike carrier. This carrier is designed to fit only Thule square bars or Yakima round bars. So to mount this on a vehicle that has a factory-installed roof rack you'll just need to add on the Thule Ride-On Adapter # TH532.

The Ride-On Adapter will mount to any factory or aftermarket bars that are up to 3-1/2-inches wide x 1-1/2-inches tall. Your Criterium bike rack can then mount to the square bars included with the adapter.

Here is a list of Thule carriers that do/do not work with this adapter:

WILL work with the following Thule carriers:

TH598 - Thule Criterium
TH599XTR - Thule Big Mouth
TH518 - Thule Echelon
TH517 - Thule Peloton
TH517 - Thule Peloton Long Tray
TH516 - Thule Prologue

Will NOT work with the following Thule carriers:

TH594 - Thule Sidearm
TH558P - Tandem Carrier
TH597 - Super G
