Which Trailer Wiring Harness Fits a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo with Factory Tow Package

Question:
I have a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Loredo 4WD, Rocky Mountain Edition. The sticker indicates that I have Trailer tow prep group $105 AHC option, but I cannot find connector under vehicle. Where is it exactly? Do you have video or pictures? Do I use your part number 118381?

Expert Reply:
In 2004, the Jeep Grand Cherokee either came with a factory installed 7-Way harness at the rear of the vehicle or no trailer connector. The towing prep package may not necessarily include the 7-Way, but it could still have the tow package. This sounds like the case for your vehicle. Since it states that it has the towing package, then you will need Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring, # 118381, that you have referenced.
You will need to locate the factory wiring harness behind the bumper on the driver side. You can test the factory plug to determine if it is functional using a circuit tester # PTW2993. You will need to test the turn, brake, and running lights and see if the factory plug carries signals for each to verify this harness is needed. I have included a link to the installation details for this wiring harness below.
