How Do I Lube/Grease a Reese RP30869 Titan Slider?
Question:
I spoke to one of your customer service people about lubing the Reese Titan Slider RP30869 and she told me there is a grease fitting on each side of the shifting handle. I have examined my hitch and cannot find any grease fittings on either side when the handle is in the neutral position. My hitch will not shift into the neutral position when it is hooked to the trailer, so I have not been able to use the slider. Reese told me that it needed greasing, but not where to grease it. Any help will be appreciated. I bought the hitch and rails from E-Trailer. Part number RP30869 which included the pin head RP30688 and RP56009-53. A video or detailed instruction will be appreciated.

I reached out to my contact at Cequent, the parent company of Reese, to follow up with their technical expert about your issue. There are not any grease fittings, our customer service representative must have pulled up the wrong part as we deal with several 5th wheel hitches...so my apologies on that. According to their tech, on the Reese RP30869 the only thing you need to grease is the rails themselves and only with a thin coat of white lithium grease, # L11354.
I took a look at this hitch personally and the only thing the tech recommended was to be aware that the locking handle of the slider has to be moved to its full extent to completely disengage or to engage for towing. The sticker that says unlock isn't always accurate as it appears to be unlocked when the bar is vertical, yet this isn't the case. The bar needs to be fully extended towards the cab of your truck to be able to slide. You may need to work the hitch back and forth to get the grease fully into the sliding mechanism. I'd suggest using a spray lubricant and penetrant to make things move more freely at all moving joints, like PB Blaster.
