Do all Connections of ETBC7 Kit Have to be Made to Provide Just Taillight Functions
Question:
I drive a 2012 Honda Odyssey and for now only need the 7 pin harness to control the trailer lights. I have a 4 pin connected so all I really need is the adapter but plan to connect a brake control next year. Does it work to simply plug my 4 pin connector to the 4 pin on ETBC7 to operate the trailer lights for now or do I need to connect the other wires as well. Im looking for a really quick fix right now that I can fully connect next year. Thanks for your help!

If the long term plan is a brake controller you would want the part # ETBC7. For just the taillight functions all you have to do is plug the 4-way into the 4-way of the 7-way that comes with the kit. The rest of the connections would not need to be made till it's time for the brake controller.
I attached an install video that shows this kit being installed on a similar 2014 Odyssey as well.
For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup. This is a proportional brake controller that senses the amount of braking the tow vehicle is applying and applies a proportionate amount to the trailer brakes.
