Will Using a Programmer Extend the Life of a Truck or Void the Warranty

Question:

I want to get as many miles out of my truck as possible with out engine repair. Could I get 200k or more even if I went to this system? My neighbor owns the dealership i bought my truck from and it has extended warranty. I worry about voiding the warranty.

First, regarding the warranty, consumers of aftermarket products are protected by the Federal Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act. The Act states that if something breaks on your vehicle and you take it in for warranty repair, the dealer must honor your warranty unless whatever modifications you have added to your vehicle actually caused the problem in question.

With that said before you take the truck to a dealer to have warranty work done you would use the programmer to return the truck to the stock tune and then remove the programmer from the vehicle.

Using a programmer such as # SU1845 won't necessarily extend or decrease the life of a vehicle. The only thing that can do that is you! By keeping up scheduled maintenance and fixing problems as soon as possible when they occur it will help get the most life out of a vehicle more so than any programmer could. But a programmer can firm up shift points and make the engine run more efficient so regular maintenance combined with a more efficient motor can extend the life of the vehicle.
