Recommended Trailer Sway Control Device for 2014 F-150 Supercrew Towing Wildwood X-Lite 171
Question:
I have a 2014 F-150 Supercrew and a Wildwood X-Lite 171. Truck and trailer are almost same length. Last year had another F-150 of the same length but harder tires. Now Im getting some sway on bridges. Since I have no sag or stopping problems, would a basic friction sway control help? Thanks.

Since your Forest River Wildwood X-Lite 171RBXL travel trailer is 22-1/2-feet in length and almost 10-feet tall it will certainly provide enough surface area for wind and air blasts from passing vehicles to cause some sway. Simple friction sway control devices like # 83660 can help reduce this sway and these are easy to install on the trailer frame. You'll need sway control bracket # RP26003 to mount the sway ball.
I suggest you start off with one and see how it affects handling in windy conditions. If you like what it does but want more, you can always add a second unit on the driver's side of the trailer frame (which will install upside down).
Since you are not having rear-end sag or front axle steering/braking issues this solution is by far your most economical option.
