Ball Mount Recommendation for 2016 Kia Sorento

Question:

I was told that our 2016 Kia Sorento, which had a trailor hitch reciever installed before purchase, that the actual hitch attachment needed to be a gooseneck style that raises the height of the ball to prevent dragging on the ground. What do you call this attachment and where do I find such a thing. Thank you for your consideration.

You're looking for a ball mount. Ball mounts are available in different heights so the trailer can be towed level. You'd measure the difference between the inside top of the receiver tube and the height of the underside of the trailer coupler. The difference would be the rise or drop needed. I'll link you to an FAQ article that explains how to take the measurement.

To choose the proper ball mount, first you'll need to know whether you have a 1-1/4 or a 2 inch receiver opening. Just measure the inside width or height, which will tell you which size you have. Then, choose the proper rise or drop. Don't worry if you cannot find the exact rise or drop you're looking for. As long as you're within an inch to an inch and a half of level, you'll be fine. It's preferable to have the trailer tongue a bit higher than level, than lower than level. If you click the provided link, you can see the ball mounts we offer. Use the filters in the left margin to narrow down the results by receiver size and rise or drop needed. You'll also need the properly sized trailer ball. The coupler on your trailer should have the required ball size stamped into it. The ball mount you choose will have the compatible trailer balls shown as related products on the product page. Just scroll down on the product page of the ball mount you've chosen.

If your Sorento doesn't have a trailer connector, you can use # C56256 to install one. I've linked you to a video showing the trailer connector being installed on 2015 Sorento.
