Bypassing Ram 2500 TIPM for Trailer Wiring Solution

I have a 2012 dodge 2500. Right blinker to towing 7-way trailer plug doesnt have a signal and my local mechanic shop said it was probably some board that after it trips or reads enough faults it quits working and is supposedly over $700. Is there a way to bypass it and come directly from my pickup tail lights that are working just fine?

The trailer wiring circuits on the newer Dodge trucks have some interesting issues. The issue is the TIPM like your mechanic mentioned. If it detects enough shorts it will eventually lock up and require you to spend quite a bit of money. It basically is a big circuit board like he said though. The easiest way to deal with them is to bypass the factory trailer wiring. To do this with a 7-way like you said you have on your truck you will first need to start with a 4-way.

For that you will need the part # C58044. Now if all you need is taillight functions and your trailer does not have brakes all you would need to convert this to a 7-way is the part # 37185.

If you do have trailer brakes and need the 7-way to activate them as well you instead would want the part # ETBC7. I attached an FAQ on this part plus an install video.
