Trailer Wiring Harness Recommendation and Installation Process on 2011 BMW X5
Question:
I have a 2011 X5 35d and need a wiring harness. The 95236 looks like the one. Do you have any specific instructions on my year/model?

Helpful Expert Reply:
Of the three 4-pole wiring harness products made for your 2011 BMW X5 the Curt harness # C59236 is a good choice for its higher maximum current output, which is 5-amps for each stop/turn circuit and 7.5-amps for the running lights.
I linked an article that will help you with the routing of the harness 12V power wire which is where it will draw its actual power for your trailer lights. I also linked a video (showing a different harness) and your installation for the Curt will be identical on your X5.
