No problem. We have an FAQ on Brake Controller installation as well as a step by step article on wiring a brake controller to 2008 Chevrolet Silverado, I have linked both below. I have also linked a video installation of a brake controller on a 2009 Cheverolet Silverado below.

You will also need a to install a 7-Pole Connector on the rear of the vehicle. For this I would recommend the Twist-In 7-pole connector, part # PK11916, for your 2008 Chevrolet Silverado if a factory trailer connector is not present on the vehicle. I have linked a video installation below on a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado.

The color wires that are under your dash are as follows: red/black wire which is the battery power, white wire is ground, light blue/white is for brake light signal, and dark blue is brake output to the trailer. See the FAQ for installing brake controller on 2007-2009 GM Truck which is linked below.

I would recommend using a proportional brake controller for your 2008 Chevrolet Silverado Texas Edition 5.3 truck. I would recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller, part # 90885. A proportional brake controller will apply power to your brakes in proportion with the brake pressure you apply to your 2008 Silverado based on the settings you make to your brake controller.
