Per one of our towing experts they said you will want to check with the fifth wheel dealership to make sure a longer pin box can be installed on your camper. They told me many times manufacturers do not recommend longer pin boxes. I do have an option for you.
With the shorter bed on your truck you can eliminate the need for a different pin box. I recommend the Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch, part # DM8550040. Installing this hitch will give you give you 22-1/2 inches of additional clearance for executing tight turns.
The installation kit I recommend to use with the Hijacker is part # DM8552030-71. This is a custom installation kit and includes above-bed rails that will also work with B&W, Curt, Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, Husky, Reese, and Valley above-bed 5th-wheel trailer hitches. Using a custom kit cuts the installation time in half versus universal kits.
Using this system means you do not have to change out the pin box on your trailer, or use an adapter like part # CAB-C5GX1216, which would still not guarantee you can make tight turns.
