Replacement Axles for 1977 Giroux Tandem Axle Boat Trailer

Question:

I have a tandem boat trailer that came with 5 on 4 1/2inch hubs that have LM67048 inner bearings and LM11949 outer bearings. I dont see a replacement hub that you carry. All I have found is a hub you call an agricultural style hub, and it only has a 4 bolt pattern. Is there a hub for my setup? Or is my option to replace spindles? My spindles are welded to the axles, not bolt on. I have owned this boat and trailer sense new 1977. Trailer is a Giroux. Any info appreciated. Thanks.

We do offer one idler hub kit that will fit your spindles, Redline # AH15450ECOMP, which has a 4-on-5 bolt pattern. In your 5-on-4-1/2 pattern we have no hubs that will fit your spindles. New hubs must use the same bearings in order to fit your spindles.

You can have a qualified welder with the required jigs replace your spindles, or you can replace the entire axle assemblies. We offer beam axle kits as well as bolt-on axle-less suspension kits that can provide better ground clearance than suspended axles. All systems are shown on the linked page. The advantage of changing the axle is knowing everything is new and in perfect shape.

You'll need to verify your axle's rating and dimensions. Note the weight rating that should appear on a sticker or plate on the axle. Also measure the hub-face-to-hub-face dimension and the spring seat spacing. You can then use the filters on the page to select those matching features.

For example, for a 3500-lb 89-inch axle with 74-inch spring centers and 5-on-4-1/2 idler hubs, use part # 35545I-EZ-89. This works with 13- to 17-1/2-inch wheels.
