Are Existing Threaded Nuts In Frame Used to Install 5th Wheel Brackets on 2016 GMC Sierra 3500

I have a 2016 GMC 3500 short box, there are 4 threaded nuts on each frame rail in about the location where the bracket would go, is that what they are for?

You will not use the existing threaded nuts in the frame of your 2016 GMC Sierra 3500 to install the custom 5th wheel rail installation brackets that we offer. I spoke with my contact at Reese, and he confirmed that the brackets will not use the threaded nuts on the frame.

The installation kit I recommend for you is the Reese Quick-Install Custom Base Rails and Outboard Installation Kit # RP56001-53. The outboard installation kit helps make installation easier by bringing the hardware that attached the brackets to the bed rails to the outside of the vehicle frame, rather than between the frame and the truck bed. All of the hardware needed to install the hitch is included, and I have attached an installation video of this kit on a similar Sierra for you.

If you'd like a wiring harness connector socket for you truck bed, I like the Draw-Tite # 20110 because all of the wires are already connected inside the socket and it will plug in-line with your existing wiring.
