Tow Dolly and Brake Controller for Towing Vehicle Behind Motor Home

Currently own a 2015 Thor Freedom Elite Model 28H with the Ford chassis. Looking to purchase a tow dolly w/electric brakes and may need a brake controller. Want the least expensive unit that will work for our RV. Thanks.

We do offer a tow dolly with electric drum brakes, the Roadmaster # RM-2000-1, which fits a 2-inch hitch ball. This dolly has a 4,380-lb weight capacity for the loaded vehicle. It includes electric brakes, 4-pole wiring harness with extra wire for the brake circuit, loading ramps and wheel nets that fit tires from 12 up to 16-inches.

The brake controller I recommend is the Prodigy P2 # 90885. This reliable unit is highly rated by our customers and it works with both electric and electric-over-hydraulic brakes. Installation in your F-450 cab and chassis will use wiring adapter # 3034-P. This proportional controller will slow the tow dolly in direct proportion to the slowing of the tow vehicle.

If you like you can avoid the need for wiring adapters by changing out the connector on the dolly to a 7-way style that matches your vehicle's 7-way socket. You can use an item like # H20044 along with a wiring junction box # 38656. You'll also need ring terminals like # 44-5356A.
