Will Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 75586 Interfere with Spare Tire Access on a 2010 Toyota Highlander

I Have a 2010 Toyota Highlander, will the drawtite hitch interfere with spare tire access

Expert Reply:

Access to the spare tire will not be restricted if you were to install Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, # 75586, on your 2010 Toyota Highlander as long as you do not have the 19 inch spare. The hitch will not fit with the 19 inch spare.

The hitch was designed with the smaller spare tire in mind. If you click on the 6th picture on the product page, you will see the hitch installed and the spare tire above it. To remove the spare, you would unscrew the center wing nut holding it in. The tire will then drop some. It will just have to go forward a little to clear the hitch when you want to remove the spare. There are tow hooks that will have to be removed to install the hitch. I have included a link to the installation details below.

If you plan on doing some towing with this hitch, you will need a ball mount, hitch ball, and wiring. The recommended ball mount is # 2923, and you can use hitch ball # 19260 (1-7/8 inch diameter), # 19247 (2 inch diameter) or # 63853 (2-5/16 inch diameter).

For wiring, you will need Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring, # 118449. I have included a link to the installation details and a video installation of the harness on a similar vehicle below.
