The Hopkins Endurance 5th Wheel and Gooseneck Wiring Harness # HM42137 that you referenced is a great option, however it does not come in a length shorter than 10 feet. Typically the extra wire from the harness is bundled together and tied up out of the way. If you wanted to make the wiring harness shorter, you could cut the wires and splice the wires back together. However this would void the harness' warranty.
