Recommended Trailer Hitch And Trailer Wiring For 2013 Volkswagen Jetta GLI

Will this model, part # C11474, fit a 2013 volkswagen jetta GLI?

The Curt trailer Hitch, part # C11474 will work great on your vehicle. This is a Class l hitch and it has a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening.

A technical note from Curt states that all non-trailer loads - bike racks, cargo carriers and so forth - should be supported with stabilizing straps, like part # 18050. Failure to properly support these loads will void your hitch warranty from Curt.

if you are planning on doing some light towing you will need a ball mount like part # C45520. For a 1-7/8 inch hitch ball I recommend part # C40001 and for a 2 inch ball I recommend part # C40018. You will also need a hitch pin and clip like part # F-4.

You did not mention what you intend to use the hitch for. If you are wanting to use it for a bike carrier or possibly a cargo carrier you can check out the attached links for some of the items designed to fit a Class l hitch. When choosing any of the items keep in mind the clearance needed to avoid hitting the rear bumper. As the attached installation video for the Curt hitch on a 2013 Jetta shows, the clearance needed from the center of the hitch pin hole to the rear of the back bumper is 6 inches. I recommend choosing an accessory with at least 6-1/2 inches clearance from the hitch pin hole to the closest part of the carrier. If you have any questions about a specific item just let me know.

When towing you need trailer wiring. I recommend part # 118572. You just need to plug the harness into the connection points located in the rear cargo area behind the tail lights, and then run the hot lead wire to the positive battery post.

When working with electrical connectors I recommend using dielectric grease like part # 11755. This keeps dirt and moisture out of the electrical connections and helps prevent corrosion.
