Recommended Fifth Wheel And Installation Kit For 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 With 6 Ft Bed

I recently purchased a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab with a 6 foot bed. The truck was previously equipped with fifth wheel rails that were removed by a former owner. It has a bed liner that has been cut out for the rails and It appears to have under bed brackets already installed. I was hoping to be able to buy a rail and hardware kit to utilize the existing holes and bracketswishful thinking, right? and wondered what measurements I would need to take to get the right kit if it is even possible? Thanks for your time

If you know who the manufacturer was for the fifth wheel installation kit that was installed, that would certainly help a lot. Most fifth wheel kits use standard rails. Most fifth wheel kits use standard rails, but the dimensions of the rails and mounting holes can vary.

To make sure everything is done safely, I recommend installing the Reese Semi-Custom Base Rail and Installation Kit, part # RP30035-023. I recommend the kit because you will need mounting hardware and base rails, and if purchased separately would cost more than the cost of the kit. This way you know everything will work great on your truck.

You will need either a Sidewinder pin box on your trailer or a sliding fifth wheel hitch like part # PS30121. This is a dual-jaw hitch with a square tube slider that moves the hitch 10 inches closer to the tailgate.
