Curt Q24 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch is Hard to Secure in 2016 Ford F-450 with Factory Prep Package

Question:

I just received and installed the Q 24 in my 2016 F 450 with factory trailer towing package. The hitch was easy to assemble and install with one exception. The legs that go down through the bed were impossible to turn far enough to lock. I finally used a five pound sledge to move the arms in far enough to the two small lock pins. Hopefully this is OK. Very tight,excellent fit.

Since no 2 trucks of the same year, make, and model will be identical it is possible to run into little issues like this. While I would not suggest using a sledge hammer, maybe a mallet instead, there are some adjustments that you can make to get the Q24 hitch # C16545-16017 to install easier in your 2016 Ford F-450. On the Curt hitch you would adjust the castle nut tighter or looser to get the right amount of tension and then lock the handles closed.
